The degree also provides ample space for electives, allowing students to tailor their degree to their career goals, i. All students will study standard technique through classical repertoire for the first two years. Consequently, students will acquire an omnicultural musical language that will equip them to move between various cultural marketplaces and serve a rapidly expanding entertainment sector in Georgia.

During the final 2 years, BACM students are invited to couple their classical training with an exploration of different musical styles. If you want to be a classical musician, you want to develop your technique and interpretive style using historical best practices. But you also recognize that there will be a lot of gigs for you in non-classical genre.

You need to know how to improvise and read charts, how to groove on a Latin beat and how to be stylistically accurate across the spectrum. We have built that into the Bachelor of Arts in Contemporary Musicianship. You need technical ability to wow your audience and musical skills that are only possible through the study of hard-core music theory and technique.

You also need to understand how the industry works. If you want to be a church musician in contemporary styles, including gospel , you want mastery in different styles. That means you need to be able to read music well; riff with an advanced technique; have the ability to compose, arrange and rehearse your choir or team; and the marketing skills to take your ensemble on the road.

If you want to be backstage in the industry , you need to understand arts nonprofit management and administration and have a broad understanding of how the arts economy functions. Throughout the program, students are exposed to a variety of learning approaches, such as lectures, technology-driven lab sessions and after-lecture tutorial sessions. All junior and senior year accounting courses of the program are offered with multiple sections with the size of each section limited to students.

Course delivery and learning evaluation are uniform across all sections. Team-based projects are incorporated into most courses and are structured to simulate real-life business scenarios that require collaboration, communication, and creative problem solving in a team setting.

Students have access to the Accounting Resource Center, a meeting and learning space funded by an alumnus and staffed by teaching assistants. The Jacobs Management Center and the adjacent Alfiero Center offer a complete home for management students, faculty and staff. Together, they are among only a few buildings at UB that commingle classrooms and offices, creating an interactive community of professionals, students and scholars.

The School has a computer lab with exclusive access for School of Management students. There are nine student breakout rooms each outfitted with a large monitor for displaying laptop content. There are numerous tables and work spaces throughout the three floors of the atrium for group work, studying, networking, and socializing with peers.

Both types of faculty have the highest academic degree required for their appointment.

Ladder faculty members hold doctoral degrees and maintain an active research record by publishing in the top and leading academic journals in their area of expertise. Clinical faculty members hold one or several professional certificates e.
