How long after topping should i wait to flower

We recommend starting with just the VEG switch, and turning on the bloom switch as well at the first sign of pre-flowering. We do have customers who run the bloom switch throughout VEG as well.

I would recommend experimenting and finding the light recipe that works best for you! Your plant should be in darkness for at least 12 hours a day during the flowering stage. Leaving the plants in darkness for up to 24 hours might not cause any harm. However, an interruption to light that could leave your plants in darkness for many hours might hurt the plants. If you try topping during this time, you risk killing or stunting your seedlings. Similarly, topping during the flowering phase is sure to cause damage to your precious plants.

It is a tool that helps to control the overall shape of the plant — by redirecting the growing tendency from vertical to lateral. Wait until the plant has grown six or seven nodes to do the initial top, which is usually done above the 5th node. The longer you keep your plants in the vegetative stage, the bigger your plant will be, resulting in bigger yields from plants that were vegetated longer. I usually recommend a week of veg time for every gallon of growing medium ie: a plant grown in a 5-gallon bucket should get about a 5 week veg.

Thanks to air pruning, fabric pots promote root growth throughout the entire volume of the container. Not only do the roots remain untangled, they get access to nutrients throughout the entire soil mass. More nutrients mean faster growth, bigger plants and ultimately, bigger yields. You can remove fan leaves during flowering in much the same way you do during veg.

Prune away large leaves that are overshadowing bud sites, as well as dead or dying fan leaves. One thing to keep in mind is that you should prune in intervals, giving at least a couple weeks between each session. It is recommended that you wait until your plants have at least four nodes before topping them, and most growers recommend topping the plant above the sixth node. Nodes are the part of a plant that connects new stem offshoots with older growth, which can form a branch, a leaf, or in the case of cannabis plants, a bud.

In most cases your plant should be around 2 to 3 inches tall with 2 to 3 sets of leaves including the cotyledons seed leaves which are rounded. Red lights from K to K and nanometers are most important in the flowering stage. This range of light promotes stem growth and overall plant height because red light signals that there are no other plants above it so it can grow unimpeded. As such, it could provide solid coverage for up to 4 plants. Certain phases of the moon illuminate plants into the night, accelerating foliage growth.

The gravitational power of the moon also pulls sap up into the leaves and flowers. Turn Down Light Intensity. Watch the Humidity.

Control the Heat. Taller Grow Space. The period in which the buds of your cannabis plant start growing quickly is the most important in the flowering period. Depending on the strain, that's usually after about 3 to 5 weeks. A general rule of thumb is that a indoor plant will double or even triple its size. Example, if I flower a plant at 14 inches, my finish target height is 35 inches. Training plants - from the first week of growth, carry out LST low stregth training , tying down limbs to close to the media, and training limbs to stay low.

Then come the flowering stage, let the limbs grow towards the light, develop buds and fill out. It is possible to top a plant many times, each time the number of dominant shoots will double. Give your plants some time to grow before you top them. Look for secondary growth at the lower nodes, that usually means that it is safe to top the plant. Plants growing in soil that is too wet suffer from a lack of oxygen which leads to the death of roots and a loss of vigor in the plant.

Stunted slow growth with yellowing leaves is a symptom of over watering. Plants may suffer from leaf scorch or leaf burn. And so the plant dies of root rot.

Topping is effectively used to obtain multiple, even-sized floral sites. LST is then used to bring these floral sites to the same height to maximize grow lamp efficiency. Generally speaking, topping is the best technique if you are wanting to manipulate the shape of your plants so that they can absorb more light, and fimming is better for producing more colas and a quicker recovery time for your plants. If you get better results from the topped batch than the untopped, by all means, top your plants.

At the same time, though, if you root what you cut, at least you get another plant out of it, so it can be worth it. Pinching plants like mums and asters will also move their bloom time back a few weeks, giving you flowers in late September when the rest of your garden is dying down rather than in late summer. To pinch a fall bloomer, start by removing up to one -third of the plant when it reaches about 6 inches tall. Provide water and nutrients in the right proportions and maintain a suitable light exposure.

Wait until the new shoots have grown enough for another topping. The nodes must be sturdy enough to support the new growth, and that takes time. Topping shapes your plant favorably for light exposure. The intensity of the light drops farther down from the source.

Topping levels the canopy because the growth hormones are distributed around, fostering the growth of many new buds as opposed to one singular shoot. Though beneficial, the success of topping depends on timing. If you do it too soon, the plant will be too young to withstand the stress. Stop topping a couple of weeks before flowering to allow your new branches to develop and grow strong.

When the conditions of growth are perfect, you will see new growth faster. After two days, you will spot the little nubs from the nodes. Within two weeks, the new growth shall be lengthy and healthy. Still, genetics influence the growth of the new shoots considerably.

The growth conditions will also affect how fast the plant grows after topping. The quality and intensity of the light also play an important role in hastening the new growth.
